HousingLabJa.com and the research connected to Rochelle Channer's dissertation on how housing related laws, policies and social norms shape the decisions that Jamaicans make in relation to housing and my immediate focus is on St. Elizabeth. The research is bound by the Florida State University Policy for the Responsible Conduct of Research..
My research-ethics responsibilities include the proper safeguarding of potentially sensitive data collected during an experiment. I have taken the following steps to meet my confidentiality requirements:
- All data collected during recruitment is stored on a server that is accessible only to the researcher and research assistants and the supervisory team staff. These data are used only for the purpose of recruiting subjects to participate in the experiments.
- All personally-identifying data collected during an experiment (e.g., your name) is processed according to the approved Internal Review Board Document of this study, IRB MOD0002413. Usually, any personal information is replaced with a code number, and the list linking code numbers to personally-identifying data is kept separate from the experimental data.
- All human-subjects forms containing personally-identifying information (e.g., informed consent) are stored in secure locations.
As a human-subject participant, it is your right to lodge a complaint if you believe that sensitive information about you collected during an experiment has not actually been kept confidential. Such complaints can be delivered to the Florida State University IRB:
